Williams Washington Camp built this home for his family on their estate in Dresden Tennessee in 1839. The two story home had stately front entrance columns, winding stairways, twin parlors and four fireplaces with fine mantels. The home was constructed of yellow poplar secured from lumber on the property and used for the massive hand pegged support beams as well as the flooring. According to the 1840 census the Camp household in that year numbered eleven, consisting of 8 children and 3 adults. It was at this home that the Mormon missionaries found and taught this family in 1843. After being converted the Camps prepared, in 1850, to leave their beautiful home and travel by wagon to Nauvoo, Illinois to join with the saints there. Four of Williams & Diannah's children had died by then so the Camp children commencing the journey with their parents were: Mary Wentworth, James Greer, Robert Ira, Catherine Ellen, Harriett Diannah, and Eliza. Richard Cecil was born in Council Bluff, Iowa and Margaret Henrietta was born in Missouri. The family got to Nauvoo just before the saints were driven out so they moved across the Mississippi river to Iowa. While Diannah and Williams were living in Iowa food was scarce. Williams took two wagons and went to Missouri to purchase supplies By fall of 1850 the family had arrived in Utah and where living in a wagons, tents, and a one room pioneer cabin in Sessions Settlement, now Bountiful Utah.
