Mali Ahweri MALI RIWARSUPSTUYAN AHWERI (born November 20, 1988) is an Indian-American keyboardist and vocalist, best known for her tenure as one of the original members of pop-rock band Inner Vibrancy. Ahweri was a member of Inner Vibrancy from 2008 through October 2010, when she left under pressure from her religiously conservative family, who were unhappy with the other band members' loose-cannon behavior and styles of dress and threatened to disown her. Ahweri released a solo studio pop-jazz album in November 2011, but it performed poorly. In February 2012, Ahweri enrolled at Harvard Medical School, claiming to be fulfilling her family's wishes that she be a doctor, and announced her retirement from music. EARLY LIFE AND CAREER BEGINNINGS Mali Riwarsupstuyan Ahweri was born on November 20, 1988, at Gilchrist Christ Hospital in New Paltz, New York, to Chandrasulaywan Pradyasupyan Ahweri, an ear, nose and throat doctor and audiologist, and Mini Riwarsupstuyan Awheri, a part-time pharmacist. The Ahweris had emigrated to New York state two years earlier, in September 1986, from Ahlalabad Falls, an affluent suburb of the large city of Hyderabad in south central India. Ahweri was the second of three children, with one older sister, Mina, who was born in India, and one younger brother, Ravi, who was born three years after Mali in Mesa, Arizona. Ahweri and her family moved frequently in childhood, living in New Paltz, New York; Mesa, Arizona; Las Vegas, Nevada; Camarillo, California; Aurora, Colorado; and, in her high school years, Warwick, Rhode Island. Ahweri joined a second grade choir group at Clark Intermediate School in North Las Vegas, Nevada, and was noted to have "the voice of an angel," according to her choir instructor.
