YOU SAID:

I really thought this was an amazing post - It really helped me understand why I focus on my negative aspects. Personally, I often dwell on my physical appearance and my success in university as being inadequate. Even though I’m not overweight or a loser in school, my parents put a lot of pressure on me to be thin and a hot shot at school, friends and in my career (despite having health problems). I think to expand the discussion; we should delve into why other people don't like us or importantly, why they don’t value us. I think a lot of the time we don't like something about ourselves because we think other people won't like us because of it. For example, people focus on physical attractiveness, personal taste, class, education level, etc. because those are things that other people judge us by. I believe that people do not like me because of my physical attractiveness – in terms of my class, weight, sense of fashion, etc - and because I may be less outgoing. I know people are not shallow, in the sense that, they don’t stop and say, ‘you’re not pretty’, therefore, I will not be friends with him/her, but rather they are just not compelled by you or may not want to be your friend. On a side note, I think one of the reasons I find it hard to treat others that well is because I don’t find the majority of people to be very honest or kind at heart. It’s hard for me to treat certain people well when they don’t treat others well or when they judge other people unfairly - based on factors like their weight, class, race, education level or wealth. When I thought about the person I most respect, I thought of how graceful, kind, calm and well-mannered a person she is. Despite health issues, she carries on with a positive spirit, takes good care of her children and family, and loves other people.

Equilibrium found!

That didn't even make that much sense in English.
