I'm not watching the notes scroll down per se, more just that I'm used to things moving downwards where my eyes are looking so much that looking away makes my eyes think that everything is moving upwards as a kind of counteraction that my mind is doing! I usually look at the upper third and try and adjust my highspeed so that the time I see the note at the top is the amount of time I need to wait before pressing it, kinda like a 'buffer' as such. I think partly though that's a bit of an issue and I think it's the wrong way to do it especially for tracks with faster tempo
