Hi. This will be my first time speaking today. My code is 1A. 66% of people say that prices of pharmaceutical drugs are too high. That's a number of total mothers, children, families, single individuals, and the list goes on. But, why is this happening? The reason is money, more like profit. These pharmaceutical companies want more money than they want to help the average person's health, even though that's what their primary job is. Due to high prices, families and individuals are having to ration their prescriptions, which in the long run does no good. What if you had to go to the doctor but couldn't afford the medicine. That is what several families and individuals are having to deal with on a continual basis. People shouldn't have to pay outrageous amounts of money just to better their health. They should be able to go to the doctor knowing that they will get better. I know that everyone in this room can agree with that, but not only everyone in this room, but people outside of this room can see the issue too. Over a half of the population can say that there needs to be better regulations on drug prices, and a fourth of that half say that there needs to be regulations period. All this information I just provided to you shows that we do need these regulations in place to make it available for people who are sick to get better, and not have to pay bu-kew bucks to do so. That is why I urge you to stand with me in affirmation of passing this bill.
