Frederick the Third 4/9/18 Middle Ages Project BIRTH AND EDUCATION My name is Frederick of Saxony. I was born 1/17/1525 in Torgau, Germany. Adulthood I am Frederick the third, also known as Frederick the Wise, elector of Saxony, I worked for the constitutional reform of the Holy Roman Empire and protected Martin Luther after he was placed under the imperial ban in 1521. Succeeding my father, the elector Ernest, in 1486, I allied with Berthold, archbishop of Henneberg, to promote imperial reforms that would increase the power of the nobles at the expense of the Holy Roman emperor. In 1500 I became president of the Imperial Governing Council, which, however, because of lack of funds wasa soon disbanded. I was instrumental in securing the election of the emperor Charles V in 1519 after refusing the crown himself. I appointed Luther and his colleague Philipp Melanchthon to the University of Wittenberg and refused to carry out a papal bull against Martin Luther in 1520. After the ban was imposed on me the next year, I welcomed him to the Wartburg, where Luther translated the Bible into German. Death The date was May 5, 1525. His heartbeat was slowing down, his breathing coming to a stop. The best device around in his time might as well have been the Antikythera Mechanism, so our computational devices are truly astonishing. I think Frederick would be confused by our entertainment, but enjoy our advancements. Our mass printing technology? Wow. Cars? What are those! Those little yellow blobs we sometimes use instead of words? 🤣. In ways, I think he would be glad to go back home to the middle ages, and in some ways, I think he would miss the year 2018. Spending time with Frederick of Saxony Alright. Frederick came to my time, but what if I went to his time. Let’s go! If I’m time traveling in time back to the middle +ages, I’ve decided I have to start out considering what specifications this time travel would have. I’ve chosen Alt-timeline time travel, meaning whatever I do back in time will not alter the present-day 2018 I come back to. I would have a time machine along the lines of the “Time and Relative Dimensions in Space”, also known as the Tardis. Back in the Middle Ages, I would make sure to be ready for any disease they could throw at me. I’d probably try to get my hands on items like novels, maps, etc to bring back to 2018 and sell for millions of dollars. But even with that, I don’t think I would be able to hang with Frederick for long. Why? I don’t think I would be able prevent the townsfolk from thinking I’m a warlock... And burning me at the stake. They would see my time machine and go “What is that? That looks like tools for witchcraft! What are these syringes, potions? Your recommend remedies for sickness? Did he just say ‘Don’t kill cats because they help prevent sickness’? He must be a warlock. He must die.”
