Did you ever think that one day, a classmate of yours would talk or give a speech to you about microwaves? Did you also think that this person is the same person who did a passion project on potatoes? Well, that’s what I'll be doing. Microwaves were invented in 1945 by a person named Percy Spencer, by accident actually. One day he was fooling around in a lab with magnetrons, which were producing microwaves and he noticed that the chocolate bar in his pocket had melted. Shortly after, the microwave oven was invented. It started as a 6 feet tall metal fridge looking thing costing about $5,000 dollars, which is about $50,000 dollars today. As you would guess, it flopped at first because people were afraid of this new tech and the size and prize. Eventually, the microwave became what we now know today.
