Dear IB students and parents, You may have heard that there is the IB cruise coming up, organized by FIBS (Finnish IB Society). The dates are 9.-11.10. This cruise has a long tradition of bringing Finnish IB students together, and was originally arranged in conjunction with the schools around TOK. Teachers were involved in the planning and as supervisors and workshop leaders. This has not been the case for some time now, and FIBS has not involved the schools in the planning or execution of the cruise, despite the fact that IB Coordinators have made efforts to have a dialogue with FIBS about this event. We know nothing about the program during the cruise, and it is for this reason, that, as a school, we do not give permission for students to participate in the cruise, and if they do, they will be marked absent without permission. Teaching continues as usual though there may be many students away. And, those students who go on the cruise are expected to make up for any work that they miss. It also happens to be the first two days of the second term that are affected. Laila Andersson
